Position: Programming Engineer Reports to: General Manager Job Summary Creates new or modified three-dimensional models and detailed manufacturing drawings. Supports the design of new products and changes to existing products and r evises and updates drawings required by Manufacturing and Quality Control . Job Responsibilities Creates new part programs for CNC Mills, Lathes and Swiss Machining Centers . Updates and optimizes existing part programs for CNC Mills, Lathes and Swiss Machining Centers . Provide technical assistance to the shop floor while proving out new part programs. Assist the Manufacturing Engineers with programming cycle times for the preparation of customer quotes for new parts and assemblies and re-quote existing parts and assemblies as pricing adjustments are required. Prepare inspection check sheets for all processes utilizing available inspection equipment and methods and recommending new inspection methods as required. Provide technical assistance to the shop floor while proving out new part and assembly processes. Provide technical assistance to the shop floor as required to resolve manufacturing issues and optimize existing processes. Design special tooling, fixtures and inspection equipment. Job Requirements Proficiency with G and M code programming, both manually and utilizing CADCAM systems. Knowledge of machining practices including, but not limited to CNC Turning, CNC Milling, CNC Swiss Machining, all conventional machining practices, both in house and outsourced. Knowledge of special processes including, but not limited to heat treatment, metal plating, coating, welding and EDM. Knowledge of, and experience with the machining of all metals and plastics. Knowledge of inspection equipment and methods used in the machining environment. Knowledge of SolidWorks is required. Knowledge of Six Sigma and 5S. Job Qualifications · 5 to 8 years on the job experience in manufacturing environment. · Education: College or Trade school degree preferred but not essential with commensurate experience. · Ability to read, write and converse in English.
