CNC Quality Inspector Job in Albany, Georgia Us

Our client, an award winning Aerospace Company is actively looking for an experienced CNC Quality Inspector for their Savannah, GA area operation. This is a contract to hire position. The full intent is to transition this person to a permanent role within 4 months.

The CNC Quality Inspector (QI) performs various quality related tasks for the plant CNC machining center including CMM inspection, auditing, and quality record keeping. The QI works with and under the direction of the Quality Manager and Quality Engineer, assists production in proper quality interpretations and performs other administrative quality tasks as required.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Help interpret customer requirements and assist manufacturing in establishing acceptable methods and practices. Effectively communicates customer requirements to others. Serve as a quality liaison for Customer quality investigations and corrective actions. Work with customer personnel to resolve inspection and product issues.

Perform receiving inspection activities on raw material, machined parts, and special processes and fabricated components.

With the oversight of the Quality Manager, perform MRB activities. Process and maintain material in the MRB Hold cage in a timely manner.

Perform in-process and final quality acceptance prior to shipment to the customer using visual, MTE, CMM and document review methods.

Train operators how to inspect their work.

Write NMDs; investigate cause and corrective action for defects as part of a team. Track open NMDs and cause and corrective action implementation.

Complete qualification class and written testing successfully for the Operator Self Inspection (OSI) Work Instruction. Complete annual and special training classes related to OSI.

Perform audits of qualified OSI associates. Maintain tracking records of these audits in compliance with the current Work Instructions. Report performance to the Quality Manager on planned intervals.

Qualifications:

Know basic quality terms, definition and concepts and know the definition of PDCA (plan do check act) and understand the term concept.

Understand traceability (product, material, and calibration).

Understand measurement types, terminology, and measurement scales. Know the difference between accuracy and precision and be able to select the appropriate measuring tools and techniques. Know how to measure using surface plate layouts and have basic calibration knowledge.

Strong knowledge of basic mathematical operations and measurement conversion; be able to solve for x; add and subtract degrees, minutes and seconds.

General knowledge of basic statistical terms and techniques, how to plot data, and how to recognize out-of-control conditions.

General knowledge of ASME Y14.5M, working knowledge of GDT, and must understand the x, y, z coordinate system.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and know definitions of critical, major and minor characteristics.

Strong knowledge of testing methods.

Ability to use inspection planning tools and perform a product audit; Ability to identify and report nonconforming material, identify/recognize inspection errors and initiate resolution.

Possess average or above skills in the use of database, internet, spreadsheet and word processing software.

CMM operation experience a plus.
