CNC Waterjet Operator 2-Axis (2nd Shift) Tracking Code 2011-084 Job Description Job Summary: The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position. Sets up and operates 2 axis computer-numerical control (CNC) machine to cut and fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. Essential Functions: The following description has been provided as examples of the types of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. * Measures sheet size of material; compares material identification number on work order to material markings and to material computer nest to ensure the proper material is being cut. * Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machine. * Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed and feed * Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required. * Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications. * Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance. * Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems * Performs other duties and assignments as directed. Required Skills Basic Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. * Basic computer knowledge and skills * Ability to operate a hoist * Ability to operate a forklift * Ability to use measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, indicators, and scales * Read and understand internal procedures and policies. * Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions * Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
