Job Description:
PlanIT Technology Group is seeking a COBOL/CICS Programmer for our client in Charleston, WV. This is a 2 year contract.

This position MUST be located in Charleston, WV - NO REMOTE CANDIDATES CAN BE CONSIDERED

REQUIREMENTS

Recommended year of experience as a programmer
• Minimum five (5) years of paid full-time programming experience
• Minimum five (5) years of paid full-time programming experience in coding COBOL/CICS programs utilizing a DB2 database
Specific work experience (projects, types of work performed)
• Ability to code complex batch COBOL programs
• Ability to code complex CICS/DB2 programs online
• Ability to code complex SQL statements against DB2 tables

Required Technical skills
• Extensive knowledge of COBOL/CICS/DB2
• Extensive knowledge of JCL for IBM z/OS enterprise server
• Extensive knowledge of, and ability to code, complex batch COBOL programs
• Extensive knowledge of, and ability to code, complex CICS/DB2 programs (online)
• Extensive knowledge of, and ability to code, complex SQL statements against DB2 tables

Required work experience
• Knowledge of WV DOT business processes as it relates to the computer systems
• Extensive knowledge of WV DMV Drivers’ mainframe system
• Extensive knowledge of WV OAH Docketing mainframe system (interfaces with the DMV Drivers’ System)
• Extensive knowledge of the WV DMV Drivers’ System and its interfaces with AAMVA software (CDLIS. PDPS, SSOLV and UNI)

Required "Soft" skills (communication skills, analysis skills, team experience)
• Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment. (This position requires the programmer to work closely and support peer-programmers, systems analysts, and DBA’s in order to design and develop the most efficient application possible for the organization.)
• Willingness to accept a variety of assignments (from analysis to maintenance) with equal enthusiasm
• Ability to work independently or with minimal guidance
• Ability to train other programmers in area of assignment
• Ability to train users on systems in area of assignment

Duties and Assignment
• Duties will include all aspects associated with program development, maintenance and support, including coding and testing, and, if necessary, analysis and design
• Programmer will be expected to attend user and staff meetings as needed or required
• Programmer will report to an assigned project supervisor/manager
• Programmer cannot work more than 40 hours a week unless preapproved by the DOT CIO or their designee
• Programmer must be available to work the same schedule (work hours) as the project supervisor/manager, if needed
• Programmer must provide a weekly progress report on all assigned duties
• Programmer must meet designated project deadlines
• Programmer must document all program and system changes
• Programmer may be assigned to multiple projects
• Programmer may be required to work with vendors on assigned projects (Programmer must keep project supervisor/manager informed of such meetings)
• Programmer may be required to write system documentation
