About the Job
Coder: FT. CPMC is seeking an experienced inpatient certified coder responsible for assigning accurate ICD-9 diagnosis, ICD-
9 procedure codes, and CPT procedure codes. Duties also include assigning HCSPCS codes and modifiers as needed, reviewing
documentation to determine accurate code assignment; abstracting clinical data and discharge disposition and abstracting data
into 3M encoder and HMS system. Requires High School Diploma or GED; course work in ICD-9-CM and CPT coding and
DRG/APC assignment; and knowledge of medical terminology, AP, ICD-9-CM, CPT, and HCSPCS coding. Position also
requires ability to work with minimal supervision and to complete complex tasks in a timely manner with minimal direction,
ability to maintain confidentiality, excellent customer service skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills. RHIA,
RHIT, or CCS with a minimum of 2 years experience preferred. Bachelors Degree in HIM or Associates Degree in Medical
Record Technology preferred
