Cognos Planning Accountant (FTC + possible extension/permanency)

A strong all-round finance professional with extensive knowledge of and experience using the Cognos system is required to join a prestigious university as Cognos Planning Accountant. The role will see the new incumbent acting as the Cognos systems expert within the university, and will be responsible for the development of the system.

Reporting into the Deputy Director of Finance and working closely with various internal/external stakeholders, this is an exciting opportunity for any systems accountant/finance professional with a passion for systems, to take responsibility and aid the institution with it's forward planning through advising and recommending new ideas, processes and efficiencies with the Cognos System. With the role focusing on utilising the system to it's maximum potential, the ideal candidate will be more than just an "everyday user" of Cognos. The successful applicant must also have a finance background in order to appreciate the aims and objectives of the system and to design any changes appropriately.

The main responsibilities of the successful candidate will be (but will not be limited to) working on a major change project and building a close relationship with IT professionals and consultants, being able to identify where improvements to systems and processes can be made and attending meetings when needed.

Being the university's Cognos expert, the right candidate will be able to demonstrate strong leadership and will have good experience in the area of accounting and systems trouble-shooting. The ideal person will be a qualified accountant, intelligent, commercially minded and have strong relationship building and communication skills.
