Job Description:
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Setup and operate winding machine to produce Three Phase Primary coils, of various size up to 10 MVA, to specifications called for on winding sheet, winding diagram and order pouch. Coil conductor configurations include strip, round wire and rectangular wire in various combinations.
TYPICAL DUTIES
1. Read and interpret winding specification documents to determine characteristics required for specific coil to be wound.
2. Determine coil number, quantity and revision. Record coil number on coil and on labor recording paperwork.
3. Determine and install appropriate mandrel device on machine. Adjust mandrel and plates, as required by window size specification.
4. Load conductor and insulating paper to dereeling mechanisms on machine.
5. Measure materials, make adjustments to machine to accommodate material and verify proper alignment.
6. Verify proper secondary coil.
7. Make adjustments to machine (flattener, traverse and material tensions) to yield desired finished coil dimensions as specified.
8. Operates walkies and hoist equipment.
9. Wind and insulate coil per winding instructions.
10. Determine adhesive locations per reference specifications and apply liquid adhesive with hand applicator at specified locations throughout the coil.
11. Insert cooling ducts, special insulation and component parts at specified locations throughout the coil.
12. Wind coil sections per to specified number of turns.
13. Braze or bend taps and leads into coil at specified locations throughout the coil.
14. Position and insulate leads per winding sheet and diagram(s).
15. Splice material per specifications as required.
16. Remove coil from mandrel device by hand or hoist it aside to pallet.
