Collections Specialist
JOB PURPOSE: Work proactively with customers to resolve past due balances in an effective, timely, and appropriate manner. Serve as Midcontinent’s professional representative when dealing with customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
• Strive to establish a plan to resolve past due balances in full and within prescribed departmental guidelines at the
onset of customer contact.
• Record electronic customer transactions accurately and with every call.
• Function as an effective team member; support the efforts and concepts of other departments including, but not limited to: Sales, Engineering, Construction, Marketing, Customer Service, Field Operations, Technology and the
corporate office.
• Apply personal ethics, honesty, initiative, flexibility, responsibility and confidentiality in carrying out customer support functions.
• Maintain regular attendance to be available for customers at all times.
• Apply a positive customer service attitude in interactions with all internal and external customers.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Be able transition skillfully from inbound to outbound activities in a blended call center environment.
• Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
• Develop successful and appropriate repayment plans using and promoting a variety of options and resources.
• Successfully cross-train as requested to develop and broaden skill sets and to support customer demand.
• Mentor new hires as required.
• Actively participate in team efforts to support customer satisfaction.
• Be available at your desk for inbound customer calls.
• Accurately document each call as trained by supervisor and or training department.
• Follow up with customers in a timely manner if necessary.
• Adhere to Midcontinent Communications privacy guidelines to ensure each customer’s privacy is protected.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• Set a positive tone and maintain control and focus of customer collections calls.
• Work well in a high pressure, fast-paced environment.
• Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Maintain professional demeanor.
• Demonstrate exceptional team development skills, a broad range of departmental experience, and a positive, proactive attitude to excel in this position.
• Troubleshoot video and phone issues skillfully.
• Have strong time and task management skills.
• Operate Windows based programs successfully.
• Communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers.
• Skillfully record electronic transactions while talking with customers over the phone.
• Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation.
• Identify opportunities for improvement.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s Degree or three years minimum substantial collections experience required (experience in call center environment preferred).
