Commercial Analyst recruitment

EDF Energy have a fantastic opportunity for a Commercial Analyst to join our team. The primary focus of the role is to maximise EDF upstream's gross margin through the optimisation of physical assets contracts by:

- Understanding and analysing energy market exposures for Upstream and reporting on the actual and forecast generation

- Operating and maintaining efficient models and processes to optimise and influence the hedging of power, coal, gas, carbon, biomass and oil

- Ensuring that safety, security and environmental protection are constantly driven to the highest possible standard

Based in London you will provide commercial support and analysis to influence decision making to ensure maximum value is realised from the optimisation of outages and capital investments. You will work across the business to ensure optimisation models accurately represent the characteristics of the generation assets and energy markets by maintaining a robust understanding of the operation of our plants, building a detailed understanding of models and maintaining a database of assumptions. You will also be involved in the management and optimisation of operational and energy market risks associated with the hedged positions for the generation assets (power, coal, gas, carbon, oil, co-fired ROCs LECs, biofuel, gypsum and limestone). In addition you will liaise with Finance to develop the annual Gross Margin submission for the Budget and Medium Term Plan, providing relevant risks opportunities and support monthly financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in a numerate discipline, with strong analytical skills and experience of handling and interpreting complex data. You will have significant excel skills in order to run and maintain complex models. You will also be commercially focused with knowledge of the UK energy sector and strong communication skills in order to communicate results and ideas into clear and concise messages that can be conveyed across EDF. Previous industry experience and modelling skills are both highly advantageous for this role.
