Indiana Insurance is currently seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Territory Manager for Eastern Iowa.
The Territory Manager is responsible for the development and maintenance of an effective annual agency plan and overall agency management process that facilitates profitable premium growth within an assigned geographic territory.
Responsibilities include:
- Recruit, appoint, and manage qualified agencies that are capable of long-term business partnerships that will produce profitable premium volume sufficient to meet territory annual assigned goals.
- Through the use of agency analysis and analytics, continually documents and evaluates individual agency performance. Utilizes overall market trends to initiate agency-specific and territory action plans to identify and capitalize upon production opportunities and improve results within their assigned territory.
- Continually monitors key competitors within territory to position offerings against competitor offerings. Collects, analyzes and reports information pertaining to any changes in competitor activities that will impact the company's position in the territory. Relays competitive intelligence and recommendations to key internal stakeholders (e.g. Product, Underwriting).
- Leads the delivery of internal and external training programs to improve agency productivity and enhance internal capabilities. Champions and coordinates area-wide events, such as product fairs, to educate and influence a higher rate of adoption of new and existing company offerings.
- Invests in relationships with key stakeholders including Inside Sales, Underwriting and Claims as well as other related organizations that may include Licensing, Contracting, and Finance. Develops and maintains communication channels, reporting, cross functional initiatives etc. that ensure field operations are in direct alignment with key stakeholders' goals.
- Masters working knowledge of all company operations, including but not limited to: Underwriting guidelines, procedures and service standards, policy and coverage's, payment processing procedures, Commission Statements, Company Rating Software, Claims procedures and service standards, all PC based Sales Tools.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Strong agency management skills and ability to drive profitable growth through agency partnerships and helping agents successfully grow their business. Engages agency by linking their business priorities to our value proposition.
- Success in negotiating, overcoming objections, closing sales and executing standard sales agreements.
- Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with clients, vendors, and peers.
- Ability to encourage, influence, and guide individuals or teams in learning and improving effectiveness.
- Big picture understanding of the business, its interrelationships, and priorities. Demonstrates knowledge of agency's business and new business opportunities.
- Knowledge of property and casualty insurance products, market segments and marketplace.
- Knowledge, insight, and understanding of industry concepts, tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business.
- Knowledge of how to complete a risk assessment and to identify actual and potential hazards or loss exposures.
- Proven demonstration of problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent Time Management Skills; ability to follow through and resolve outstanding issues in a timely manner.
- Highly Effective Communication Skills, especially Phone Etiquette and email correspondence. Capable of adapting communication style to a varied audience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Developed Presentation Skills and proficient with Power Point.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience. Continuing insurance education preferred.
- 5 + years of progressively more responsible insurance related knowledge.
