As MHPM’s Pacific Region continues to attract exciting project opportunities, we seek a Commercial Manager to join our team in Vancouver.

The Commercial Manager acts as the subject matter expert to the MHPM’s clients and the project teams they support. The Commercial Manager provides extensive reviews of cost plan information, organizes and conducts bid reviews and evaluations up to contract award. The Commercial Manager is the custodian of the project’s cost control log and master project schedule.

What you’ll get to do as a Commercial Manager at MHPM:

·         Lead the cost accounting, cost control, and cost reporting activities on a variety of projects

·         Prepare monthly project status reports for presentation to the client and the project team

·         Act as custodian of the project cost log and master project schedule

·         Apply value engineering to ensure the client’s needs are balanced at all times with the project budget

·         Conduct pre-bid conferences and vendor assessment, conduct bid reviews and evaluations

·         Lead the management of all financial and sub-contract works and package procurement

·         Prepare financial reports, agreements and implement contractor and sub-contractor valuations and pricing variations with both clients and sub-contractors

What you’ll need to be successful:

·         A minimum 10 years of experience in quantity surveying, with experience in delivering  projects of varying size and scope in a range of sectors including commercial, retail, light industrial, healthcare, education and municipal/provincial

·         A university degree or diploma  in engineering, architecture or quantity surveying (or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience)

·         Strong knowledge of various types of construction methodologies, project management models and financial management, as well as building codes, contract law and relevant legislation

·         Effective leadership and organizational skills with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project and technical issues

·         Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

·         Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project), word processing (Word) and spreadsheet (Excel) software applications

·         PMP designation and LEED AP accreditation an asset
