Commercial Operations Proposal Editor Job

The Proposal Editor serves as the primary editor for the department working with proposal managers, authors and other proposal staff so that project deadlines are met.The Proposal Editor proofreads and edits proposal text for style and correctness in meeting proposal style guide specifications. Essential Responsibilities - Perform some clerical functions, including various assignments in handling the day-to-day coordination of proposal projects, information, events, and trainings, in support of the Proposal Development and Strategic Bidding Scoping - Act as the primary proposal editor for the department and all proposals - Ensure that the final proposal represents an effective sales document - Proof read, edits, and corrects proposal text for style and correctness in meeting proposal style guide specifications - Create and/or improve proposal graphics and proposal graphical layout - Create and maintain all proposal style guides for use by all proposal staff and authors - Create proposal-specific editorial checklists to ensure quality control - Coordinate editorial schedule with proposal administrators and proposal production staff while communicating needs and deadlines - Maintain proposal records, filing systems, and calendars - Research information for proposal preparation, reports and presentations - Help manage boilerplate text and confidential proprietary (CP) text and respond to inquiries regarding such text - Assist in the development, maintenance, production and submittal of proposals and related documents - Participate in proposal trainings (providing guidance to proposal authors and reviewers) individual or group training sessions - Prepare and process proposal documents and forms, when needed - Coordinate proposal meetings and events, when needed - Perform related duties as assigned Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelor s Degree from an accredited university or college in English, Journalism or other related discipline - Minimum of 1 year of editorial experience - Minimum of 5 years of experience in writing and/or editing ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: - Willingness and ability to work non-standard work hours (nights and weekends) when needed Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Desired Characteristics - Minimum of 1 year of industry experience - Strong command of English grammar, usage, punctuation, and excellent writing skills - Proven performance of editorial functions including proofreading and editing skills - Exemplary interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Previous project and process management experience - Ability to adjust to changing circumstances, production flow, and direction - Ability to keep track of all components of a proposal draft - Ability to establish and meet deadlines, and multi-task and prioritize multiple, simultaneous projects in a high pressure, deadline driven environment - Ability to operate efficiently in a Windows platform with advanced computer skills including MS Word (a solid knowledge of shortcuts / quick key strokes is preferred), MS Outlook, MS SharePoint, and Adobe Professional - Graphic design skills with Adobe Photoshop or similar highly desired - Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals in written and verbal form, and participate in active discussions in person and via tele and video-conferences - Ability to work effectively in a team environment, take direction from all department staff, take initiative on projects, and provide updates on projects - Ability to exercise sound judgment, interpret and communicate policies and procedures, and maintain accurate records Why join one great company when you can join many?
