Commercial Outsourcing Accountant/Bookkeeper

COMMERCIAL ACCOUNTANT BOOKKEEPER JOB WORKING FOR A DYNAMIC OUTSOURCING PRACTICE FIRM IN THE BOURNEMOUTH AREA

Our client is a small dynamic and rapidly growing outsourcing practice firm and they are seeking an experienced bookkeeper accountant to join their growing team. The main purpose of the job will be to process client bookkeeping records up to Trial Balance and assist clients in implementing and using systems to work efficiently to ensure smooth production of year end accounts predominantly at clients' sites.

Key Responsibilities Accountabilities will include:

● Maintain and develop client bookkeeping procedures to ensure minimum amount of time spent on this activity.
● Process client bookkeeping records to up to trial balance ensuring that the bank accounts reconcile and aged debtors and aged creditor ledgers are tidy and explanations of old balances obtained from client.
● Process client payrolls using HMRC database and then entering into Xero. This will also include dealing with client queries and maintaining the Payroll Master Database.
● Assist the Directors in obtaining all relevant paperwork required from clients in relation to completing VAT returns. Review and reconcile the VAT return reports back to the underlying bookkeeping records.
● Assist the Directors in the completion of the Quarterly Reviews for clients to include collation of paperwork from clients and liaising directly with client for answers to any queries raised.
● Deal directly with clients to answer any queries or support requests they may have in relation to bookkeeping, payroll and VAT returns. This will include choosing the correct medium to use such as telephone, email or letter.
● Maintain statutory registers for clients to include filing of documents with Companies House as necessary examples include Annual Returns, change of Director's details, change of shareholders (this is not an exhaustive list).
● To assist clients in using the Xero system to enable them to use the system efficiently and minimise the support queries we will handle. This might cover direct one to one training or webinars.
● Consistently review client systems to ensure that they are making best use of Xero and the Xero ecosystem. Liaise with the Directors and Clients to suggest and implement changes.
● Communicate with Directors and Managers on a regular basis any issues that have been encountered with clients. This may take the form of a weekly meeting but any issues should be brought to their attention by email immediately.

The ideal candidate is likely to have experience of working in an accountancy practice coupled with experience of working for a commercial organisation and could be AAT qualified, part qualified or qualified by experience. They will require the ability to work under tight deadlines and on their own initiative, and have and maintain a good technical knowledge. They will need to be able to multi-task and prioritise own workload, to work as part of a team with a proven ability to meet deadlines and targets.

Dedication to the provision of a high quality service and willingness to initiate improvements for clients will be key to this role so they will also need to have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to liaise directly with clients and build strong relationships. The ability to communicate complex technical matters to clients and team members, and the ability to investigate a problem or situation beyond routine questioning would also be a distinct advantage.

Excellent IT and Computer skills are essential and a working knowledge of Xero would be an advantage but is not essential as full training in this software will be provided.
