Commercial Project Manager

The position combines significant elements of Sales, Marketing, Application Engineering, and Commercial Engineering knowledge. In addition to quotation management and customer visits, the Commercial Project Manager independently provides both technical and commercial assistance to Rockwell Automation field sales offices and sales channels for motor control centers and related equipment. The Commercial Project Manager will develop and maintain relationships with Power Control Area Managers, Motor Control Center Specialists, Business Unit Sr. Management, and other Rockwell and distributor sales professionals within their assigned geographical regions. Keep current on regional challenges, competition, and economic trends that impact the business as well as assist in the development and implementation of sales strategies.
This position is directly responsible for:
- Negotiating pricing, terms and conditions, and project scope.
- Prepare and present documentation, including Excel and PowerPoint files, for Sr. Management review of large quotations.
- Assists with the development and implementation of business plans
- Development of forecasts for assigned product lines and geographical regions.
- Assist sales and channel with customer engagement as required in pursuit of new business and maintaining present customer base.
- Ability to take lead in communication concerning quotations, specifications, orders and potential orders between business units, Sr. Management, Sales, Channel Partners, and Customers
- Provide input regarding customer/industry requirements for new product development
- Review customer specifications and drawings and prepare quotations via current available quotation tools and follow applicable guidelines.
- Spokeperson for the business unit when traveling with Sales and/or customers.
- Responsible for identifying customer technical/commercial challenges and engaging the appropriate resources to bring issues to resolution.
- Ability to conduct plant tours for prospective customers.

B.S. Engineering Degree
- Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience
- Requires proven negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working directly with end users, consultants, contractors, sales engineers, and channel partners.
- Experience with industrial control products. i.e. Motor Control Centers, NEMA starters, VFD, PLC, etc
- Ability to quickly learn, articulate, and present the features and benefits of new products and solutions, and use this information in developing new customer opportunities for the business.
- An understanding of industry specific applications, engineering principles and how to apply them.
Some travel required to meet with customers, sales offices, and channel partners (approximately 10-20% - potential for international travel)
