Commodities AVP – SVP recruitment

A number of new opportunities have been released within Global Commodities Product Control team and IPV team in a London based Investment Bank. Type of products covered will include: Gas Power, Oil and Metals/exotics. There is fantastic project Management opportunities exposing you to Front Office functions. There is also good limelight for managerial leadership. We will look at candidates with Exotics experience and Commodities experience.

Key interactions are with the desk /traders within the Commodities Exotics business, the wider Product Control Group including the Central Product Control team, Middle Office Team, Exotics Validation and Analysis Team as well as Operations and Technology.

These interactions will cover the range of daily, weekly and monthly reporting communications as well as project work and ad hoc queries.

What are we looking for in the Commodities Team?

PL Reporting – includes reporting of Flash PL Actual PL, Variance analysis and clean PL for backtesting. The group is responsible for reporting PL on a daily basis. This involves all key controls and reconciliations.

PL explanation – validate the system generated PL with position-based and risk attribution and commentaries.  Responsible for the investigation and resolution of any unexplained PL

Dealing with ad hoc queries with the trading desk relating to PL explains, variances, trade booking and valuation issues

Provisions calculation and analysis; commentaries and management reporting.

Data Integrity and balance sheet verification. Carry out validation tasks to ensure the integrity revenue related balance sheet accounts, focusing on

o        System reconciliations – ensuring trading positions and prices in front office system are reconciled to the accounting and settlement sub-ledgers

o        Awareness and consideration of controls that would impact these accounts

Reviewing structured trades and OTC exotic transactions to ensure trade payoffs are correctly structured within exotic trade capture systems and that pricing models are appropriate.

Assisting more senior members of the team on development of new reserving techniques, or performing observability assessments on illiquid market data.

Assisting more senior members of the team on application of model controls and calibration.

Performing monthly pricetesting on exotic derivatives.

Providing due dilligence work to grant pre-trade approval to front office on new exotics business.

Providing expert systems knowledge to investigate and remediate issues with commodities EOD PV and risk batches, ensuring that accurate PV and risk was provided to both Trading and Product Control.

The Commodities Product Control team is constantly seeking to innovate and rationalise existing processes. All team members are expected to contribute to this process.

This is a challenging role with exposure to varied products and a Global business. It presents significant development opportunities and close managerial support, guidance and training will be given.

The ideal candidate will have worked in line exotics product control for a minimum of 3 years and have delivered a number of product specific projects.
