Position Description:
A key member of the Sales team in Shanghai, the main responsibilities of this role are to help develop Morgan Stanley's commodity business in China through understanding and navigating the commercial, regulatory and political landscape in China.
Responsibilities include:
- Development of onshore physical business through identifying potential client bases possibly including: LNG, Coal, Refined products, non-ferrous metals
- Some sales coverage of well-known and medium sized entities who may transact physical and/or derivative business off-shore in international markets.
- Relationship building and liaison with Morgan Stanley's other banking divisions and local Chinese banks to further source financing, structured and hedging type deals with Chinese clients
- Relationship building with regulatory agencies and government bodies that supervise the commodities area
Skills Required:
- Existing relationship with some state regulators and government agencies
- Previous business development experience and preferably multi-commodity experience
- Bilingual (Mandarin/English)
- Ability to travel frequently and work independently at times
- Basic banking and finance knowledge including derivatives and capital markets awareness
- Ability to work in China without need for papers/Already domiciled in China
