Key Roles Responsibilities
Product and business advisory work
* Assists in the identification of material regulatory and reputational risks in the business.
* Anticipates and assesses key regulatory and product risk trends in the business for management consideration and helps drive the development and implementation of appropriate mitigation control measures.
* Undertakes continual assessment of regulatory risks associated with existing products and those under development.
* Participates in the governance of a business.
* Assists in approving new products and new business initiatives.
* Assists local teams with product line expertise as required, particularly with regard to regulatory inspections or investigations.
* Assists in management and implementation of the product compliance coverage framework and in the preparation and distribution of management information in relation to the product compliance coverage.
Controls development and implementation
* Develops Compliance policies and procedures applicable to the business.
* Assists in the development and enforcement of product standards and controls.
* Works collaboratively with the business and Operational Risk in the BKCSA process.
* Ensures appropriate documentation of controls and control decisions.
Training
* Actively participates in the delivery of a program of activities that educates and encourages business managers and staff to operate in compliance with relevant laws, regulations and policies.
* Provides ad-hoc additional training as and when appropriate.
* Assists in the development of an effective internal business compliance culture by promoting the benefits of ethical business conduct and the benefits of compliance.
* Provides product-specific training to local specialists.
* Distributes knowledge on 'lessons learned' across various jurisdictions to local teams.
Monitoring/reporting
* Develops and implements Compliance monitoring in conjunction with relevant stakeholders - local teams and/or WB Core Specialists. Has direct responsibility for the Desk Review process.
* Prepares reports for WB Compliance management.
* Ensures timely escalation of incidents, control breaches to relevant stakeholders - senior management in WB Compliance, local CA management, and other risk stakeholders
Partnership
* Builds relationships with relevant stakeholders in the business, in the LCA organisation, and in other risk functions.
* Endeavours to keep all relationships on a strong professional and collegial footing.
* Endeavours to take a holistic approach to the management of risk - the compliance issue may not be the most pressing risk issue.
Qualifications Skills
Technical Knowledge
* Possesses core technical knowledge in typical laws and regulations applicable to the business (or businesses) for which he / she is responsible.
* Has an introductory understanding of variations in such laws and regulations across various jurisdictions.
* Has a core grasp of the sales and transactional activities of the business, its operating model, and its key risks.
* Financial Markets: Commodities:
o Detailed knowledge of main commodities asset classes.
o Detailed knowledge of commodities trading practices in particular detailed knowledge of physical delivery mechanisms and practices across multiple commodities asset classes.
o Knowledge of core commodities exchange rules - trading, clearing, settlement / delivery rules, plus Exchange for Physicals, Exchange for Swaps, and give-up trading rules.
o Knowledge of common commodity derivative structures - forwards, swaps, options, structured products.
o Knowledge of licensing, insider dealing / conflicts of interest management, and basic familiarity with typical market manipulation and suitability / sales practices issues.
Compliance skills
* Core knowledge in risk identification, risk assessment, controls development, training, monitoring and reporting.
* Core experience, shown by demonstrable achievements in the above areas.
