Commodities trading within Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) in London is built upon a number of core businesses:
• Energy Markets
• Environmental Financial Products
• Metals Agricultural Sales and Trading
• Structured Commodity Products
Together these businesses offer a full suite of risk management, hedging and financing solutions in a diverse set of asset classes including; European gas/power, oil derivatives, grains, softs, emissions and commodity indices.
As a front office developer, you will work directly with Traders, Marketers, and Quants to enhance strategic technologies in the bespoke OTC, commodity index, physical commodities, and exchange traded market spaces. Areas of focus include trade capture, risk management, and product development. Consistent growth within FICC means that candidates demonstrating stand out abilities will be presented with significant scope for personal and career development.
Core Responsibilities:
• To work with users from the front and middle office to translate business strategy into clear technical and analytical systems solutions
• Design, and develop FICC trading and risk-management system components
• Adopt a proactive approach to technology and introduce new/improved solutions
• Build and maintain strong relationships with the business and other teams within IT
Required Skills:
• Practical knowledge of derivatives, risk management and pricing (ideally in commodities space, but experience in other asset classes will also be considered); together with strong mathematical skills, we would look at candidates both contract and perm.
• Expertise in large-scale, hands-on C++ development, ideally within a UNIX environment
• A strong desire for technical excellence and a proven track record of delivering innovative technical solutions in a global, fast-paced, front-office financial environment
• Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
• Past experience as a team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Outstanding academic achievements; ideally you'll possess a relevant university technology degree, post-graduate qualification or equivalent
