Commodities Software Developer recruitment
The Role
The Bloomberg RD Commodities London team is looking for a self-motivated individual with strong technical skills to join the team in developing exciting new products which lie at the intersection of cutting edge technology and the global financial markets. The team is responsible for a variety of functions in the European power and gas sector along with projects that were successfully integrated from Bloomberg New Energy Finance that include carbon pricing models and wind asset valuation models.
The Commodities team is currently focused on making a large push into the European commodities space, with a small number of significant new projects aimed at the European gas and power space.
Most projects involve developing a client facing UI, C++ services running on UNIX/Linux, and a database layer. These projects are predominantly green field projects and as such the candidate is expected to be comfortable working on all phases of the software development life-cycle (requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, etc.) and be able to offer creative input to help define the product.
Requirements:
-Strong C/C++ programming skills in a UNIX/Linux environment
-Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related experience, or equivalent expertise.
-Demonstrate professional experience of object-oriented design, data structures, systems and applications programming
-An ability to pick up new technologies quickly
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desirable:
-Experience with relational databases.
-Experience with multi-threaded programing.
-Modelling experience would be beneficial.
-Knowledge of the Commodity/Energy space or financial markets in general is a plus but not a necessity but a desire to learn and gain expertise in these areas is a must.
