Commodity Buyer Job in Coventry, Midlands Uk

Our client is an established manufacturing business in Coventry and they are looking for a Commodity Buyer (materials) to join their established Purchasing department.

The company designs and manufactures hydraulic solutions ranging from turnkey systems to products such as powerpacks, manifold assemblies, and control valves.

Commodities purchased to include seals, O-rings, castings, turned parts, fixings, steel (plate, billets, extrusions). Spend responsibility of circa £3m in a low volume batch environment. In return the business is looking to pay up to £33k with 33 days holiday and up to 5% pension contribution.

KEY DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work in accordance with procedures and develop new processes as required.
• Work to pre-determined deadlines.
• To react quickly to and resolve day to day problems to the satisfaction of the relevant department.
• Work closely with and support other departments.
• Work the required hours to meet ones objectives.
• Commodity Management of a Portfolio of selected components
• Work to achieve company cost down targets set within designated commodity groups
• Report "at risk suppliers" within commodity portfolio and set contingency plans needed to obviate risks
• Monitor, track and report raw material changes within designated commodity groups
• Monitor and report on PPV (Purchasing Price Variance) as required
• Raise Purchase Orders as and when required.
• Expedite when required materials to ensure continuation of Manufacturing Programs
• To procure parts, materials and services at competitively negotiated prices
• To support the Commercial process through effective supplier relationship management efficient management of deliverables and program cost management
• To give key support to all departments (Design, Test Development, Calibration and Control Finance) by securing world class suppliers, competitive component costs and strict timing of deliverables
• To work closely with all staff at the manufacturing operation in Coventry to ensure professional working relationships within the business and all suppliers
• Identify key suppliers for new and existing components, concepts and production programmes
• Carry out international search for technology suppliers, technology partners and future potential suppliers
• Carry out other duties as and when directed by the company
