Commodity Fund seeks Oil Trading Analyst, London ~£60k
Commodity trading is often more about the fundamentals and analytics behind trade execution and this fund build and optimise their own models from scratch, taking into account physical market factors. This provides a significant edge to their trading strategy, which presently focuses on the Futures markets. Currently expanding into new products, a new Oil Modelling Analyst is required to own that space. The successful incumbent will develop oil pricing models from a fundamental stand point, with strong Excel, VBA, C++, or relevant technical skills. The curves you produce will be used to forecast futures prices in the short-term traded horizon.
Main responsibilities:
- Forecast, on a short-term basis, global oil demand and therefore model Futures price curves
- Maintain and improve existing models and set up new models when needed.
- Provide sound analytical advice to in house traders.
Experience required:
- Numerate degree - Masters level ideally.
- Oil market fundamental analysis and modelling experience in a traded environment is essential, from a physical energy major, trading house, or investment bank.
- Must have a wide-breadth modelling toolkit - Excel, VBA, C, Matlab, and/or other
