The Financial Systems Communications Manager will be an integral member of SunGard's Financial Services communications team. This role will be responsible for the development of specific areas of the Financial Services (Banking) communications strategy and will create an effective communications plan and contribute to the execution of the plan. This role will manage the communication activities that promote and enhance the Banking business' brand recognition and reputation. This role will implement a broad range of public relations, analyst relations and social media activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the business.

The role will report directly to the US-based VP of communications. The role will also have accountability to the business it supports (Banking) and help support the overall SunGard Financial Systems communications effort.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement an integrated strategic external communications plan for the Banking business- including press relations, analyst relations and social media- to increase brand identity and thought leadership
• Work as an integral member of the Banking team liaising with thought leaders, product managers, senior executives and marketers to build the program for external communication
• Identify target publications/analyst firms and reporters/analysts for Banking and actively build and maintain relationships with these influencers
• Manage the global press release pipeline for Banking
• Pitch news and thought leadership ideas as well as monitor target publications to create a steady flow of interviews for Banking and obtain favorable press coverage
• Identify and track award opportunities for Banking, manage award submissions and follow up with press activities on wins
• Prioritize and create a focused external communications strategy to enhance exposure of SunGard's Banking business to top tier global press and analysts, liaising with regional Comms leads and the analyst relations team
• Actively engage, cultivate, and manage trade press and analyst relationships in support of SunGard FS efforts to help ensure broader opportunities
• Work with executives on media best practices, develop talking points, brief them prior to interviews and provide feedback
• Help develop relevant content such as blogs and multi-media assets for Banking and support development of such items for SunGard FS
• Drive a social media strategy for Banking and for SunGard FS
• Plan and execute events that will help nurture and grow relationships with press and analysts
• Arrange press and analyst opportunities at internal and external events working with regional Comms leads where required
• Track media and analyst activities in Vocus; generate reports to track success

• Extensive experience in marketing and/or public relations is essential
• Ability to think and plan strategically and then execute
• Experience with developing and maintaining relationships with journalists for the purposes of placing stories and proliferating messaging through multiple media channels such as print, web, blogs, radio, TV
• Experience with active engagement in social media channels (such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook), particularly for B2B marketing efforts
• Experience with developing and maintaining relationships with industry analysts for the purposes of increasing positive coverage in analyst reports for products and services
• Experience with content creation for purposes of lead generation and branding
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent writing skills
• Experience with market and competitive research and analysis
• Ability to work autonomously
• Well organized, and able to manage multiple tasks at once
• Experience in the financial services industry is preferred but not essential.
• Experience in banking industry is preferred but not essential
