No Security Clearance Required about security clearance definitions Position Description Boeing has an opening for a communications specialist to provide communications support for the corporate employee communications team. This position is responsible for writing, editing and publishing a broad range of news stories targeted primarily to employees that help inform and educate them about company strategies, initiatives and developments. The primary role centers on writing corporate news stories for Boeing News Now, the company's around-the-clock internal electronic news service, and Frontiers magazine, Boeing's monthly four-color employee magazine. Working closely with the corporate Human Resources Communications team, this communications specialist will have responsibility for collecting, editing and publishing news stories and announcements for the weekly editions of newsletters targeted to HR professionals and the employees at the corporate offices. The successful candidate also will help develop, write, edit, and plan distribution of communications such as news releases, internal communications, and other materials; respond to requests for information; directly assist senior-level communications specialists in day-to-day communications activities; and support other communications activities as required. The communicator will need to have work experience in determining the requirements of diverse audiences and developing communications that deliver targeted messages in an effective and efficient manner. He or she should have superior project management skills that include a proven ability to establish priorities, meet tight deadlines and manage a multi-faceted internal review process. This communicator should also demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and the ability to build and maintain strong, constructive working relationships with a wide range of colleagues and business partners around the company. A working knowledge of the aerospace business is a plus. This high-visibility position, based in Chicago, Ill., involves heavy workload, multiple tasks, constant coordination and occasional travel. Frequent early morning or evening shift work required. The final candidate(s) for this position will be required to take writing and editing tests. Basic Qualifications For Consideration Do you have experience preparing and deploying news stories to a large organization? Do you have three or more years of work experience developing written communications for publication, or in support of a corporate public relations or employee communications program? Typical Education/Experience Level 2 - Bachelor's degree and typically 3 or more years related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 1 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Level 3 - Bachelor's and typically 6 or more years related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 4 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
