The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT) is a non-stock, tax-exempt corporation incorporated in May 2004 and is funded under federal and state sponsored grants to develop a national center that addresses military and civilian industrial manufacturing needs; to promote energy planning and policy initiatives; and to enhance workforce skills for technology competitiveness through K-16 education pipeline and incumbent worker training programs.
Position Title: Communications Specialist
Job Description: Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, the Communications Specialist is responsible for functions including, but not limited to, the following:
· Produce and implement major branding campaign, including approved style sheets
· Administer CCAT website style and content, ensuring that the site meets the organization’s business needs
· Maintain timelines of website format and news, creating and revising collateral materials; creating and distributing press releases; and managing the distribution of newsletters and publications
· Organize the preparation of presentations using marketing resource materials such as brochures, data, slides, photographs, and reports
· Create, implement and oversee communications programs that effectively describe and promote the organization’s activities and achievement, including graphics, brochures, company or product fact sheets, logos, or other promotional products
· Research and develop content for publication of products
· Participate in the strategy and planning of meetings and events, including monitoring budgets and coordinating amenities
· Communicate the purpose and mission of the organization to potential/current customers, affiliates, funders, and employees by making effective use of a variety of approaches and mechanisms, including social networking
· A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
· Other tasks as assigned
Job Requirements:
· Excellent writing ability
· Required to work with academic and industry organizations for the introduction of new technologies
· Ability to manage projects, including budget and schedule, and write reports
· Must fulfill ITAR citizenship requirements
Education and experience:
· Requires a Bachelor's degree with at least 3 - 5 years of experience in the field
· Experience in marketing research and developing and implementing marketing strategies
· Experience in public relations
· Experience in working with local communities, media and the public at large
· Experience in conducting radio, TV and newspaper interviews for media
· Experience in strategic planning and public presentations
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Photoshop, Publisher, and familiarity with HTML
