Positions Summary:
This is a position involving person centered, community inclusive opportunities for individuals with Mental Retardation/IDD. The person in this position will fulfill responsibilities for a direct support nature working with small groups of individuals in community based volunteer activities. The person in this position will support the individual's community based experiences while service as a community guide, as well a bridge builder in connecting the individual with his/her community through the contribution of volunteerism. This position is one of direct support, offering community based volunteer activities to the individuals who participate. The person in this position will also be responsible for supporting staff in providing community based leisure/recreation opportunities for consumers to insure community participation in activities of choice/interest.
General Responsibilities:
- Implements program policy and procedure according to program regulations and guidelines.
- Provides counseling to individual clients
- Implements and monitors treatment of clients
- Monitors individual and group social skills
- Leads or co-leads volunteer groups
- Assists, teaches and monitors client's daily activities
- Accompanies and monitors clients on community trips, engages clients in volunteer activities, and assures the health and safety of the clients.
- Maintains accurate and adequate records
- Engages clients in volunteer activities
- Monitors compliance with house rules
- Reports to administrator on call any immediate or unusual situations and mediate problematic issues between clients in a timely manner
- May perform other related duties when required or assigned
- Completes all required reports, paperwork, correspondence, and clinical record documentation in accordance with State, County, and NHS policies and regulations and supervisor direction
- Adhere to all NHS Human Services, County, State, and Federal policies and regulations related to mental retardation treatment services
- Complies with NHS ethics, codes of conduct, as well as the ethics and code of conduct of own discipline, in all contact with clients, co workers, and the community
- Regularly attends department staff meetings, trainings, individual supervision meetings and NHS agency staff meetings
- Maintains consumer confidentiality in accordance with NHS policies
- Works within a flexible scheduling system which may require some evening and weekend work
- Other duties as assigned to meet programmatic needs.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED. Appropriate experience in the MH/MR field or other specific skills/credentials will also be considered in fulfillment of the criteria for this position.
Additionally, Child Abuse, Stae Police and FBI clearances are necessary along with a Driver's license and a good driving record.
