Community Relations Development Director Title: Community Relations Development Director Career Category: Location: Abilene, TX Type: Full_Time Position #: 73106 Ã?« Back to Job Listings Description: Plans, supervises, directs, monitors and evaluates all public relations, community relations and development functions for Abilene Corps which include: Donor Services, Public Relations, Community and Corporate Relations, Grants Campaigns; ensures that The Salvation Army maintains a favorable and positive image in the community; serves as liaison to media ensuring the desired message is communicated; takes photographs and writes articles covering Salvation Army events in Abilene; participates in coordinating, promoting and executing special events; researches, studies, identifies and cultivates financial support and funding from foundations, corporate contributions and major individual donors; researches and applies for foundation and government grants including the compilation of statistics and required information to prepare a complete proposal package in compliance with strict time-lines; builds and maintains a database of funding resources and donor information; recruits volunteers and coordinates volunteer activities; performs public speaking to promote awareness and financial support for Salvation Army programs. Required Experience: Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol and organizational structure. Knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations. Knowledge of effective and efficient methods for organizing and maintaining records and ability to perform the same. Ability to create effective printed materials for educational and promotional purposes. Ability to present a positive image of The Salvation Army. Ability to plan, coordinate and evaluate special events. Ability to administer a budget and monitor expenditures for compliance with the same. Ability to prepare and maintain reports and files in an accurate and complete manner. Ability to prepare and administer grants/contracts in compliance with legal guidelines and restrictions. Ability to prepare and interpret technical reports and legal contracts/agreements. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships in the community and specifically with contacts at funding agencies. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with Salvation Army officers, employees, member of advisory organizations and the community. Ability to work under pressure of deadlines and time restraints. Ability to be creative in generating ideas and enhancing development programs, as well as demonstrating and practicing the ability to be a self starter.
