Specific Job Description ? The Information Systems Architect is responsible for the development, maintenance, and governance of a technical architecture and strategy for information systems and information management infrastructure in the United States Antarctic Program (USAP), supporting mission and business systems and services. ? This position may deploy to Antarctica at the discretion of management. ? Responsible for Program-wide information architecture and strategies. This can include information standardization and normalization, information management and analysis, database and business application structure, information storage, archiving, backup and recovery, data mining, and software development methodologies and tools. ? Provides information system strategies to meet evolving mission and business needs. ? Maintains alignment between information systems and business strategy and processes. ? Develops technical plans such as Information Life Cycle Management to augment IT strategic, tactical, and long range planning cycles. ? Develops strategic, long range and architectural roadmaps regarding information and business systems. ? Develops and maintains master enterprise-wide data dictionary. ? Develops information management and security strategies to maintain information accuracy, consistency, and integrity across multiple systems. ? Reviews and approves selection of information systems that meet mission and business goals. ? Reviews and approves information systems designs and data architectures for new systems and applications. ? Act as technical lead or project manager for small to medium projects. ? Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace program and ensuring safety is the highest priority in the work place. ? Performs other duties as required. Standard Job Description Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing complex computer systems. Determines systems specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility and maintenance of system security. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions. May provide technical guidance for database administrators and software developers.
