Compensation account manager recruitment
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a qualified accountant to join a leading Brokerage firm based in London. The business is a leading global intermediary to the financial markets, specialising in the brokering of a broad range of financial products. They offer a full range of brokerage services including among others price discovery and trade execution.
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring effective control and overall governance around all compensation accounting related matters whilst also ensuring prospective schemes / models are fully analysed and understood;
- To manage 3 staff ensuring leadership and guidance is given to the team;
- To be the point person for all compensation accounting technical questions;
- Responsible for determining, interpreting and accounting for all compensation related matters and ensuring these are all properly and fully documented;
- Responsible for ensuring all policies are fully documented and that as appropriate clear procedures are established and followed;
- Responsible for month end reporting to Senior Management in a controlled and timely manner, supporting the monthly transactions as they impact the Group's books and records;
- To have full responsibility and account accurately for the various equity bases compensation schemes.
- Responsible for determining, interpreting and accounting for all compensation related matters and ensuring these are all properly and fully documented;
- To ensure monthly bonuses are correctly accounted for as per the agreed policy - e.g. guaranteed/loyalty bonuses, admin/back office bonuses:
- Responsible for completion of monthly profit and loss account analytical review procedures for compensation expenses, including co-ordination of analysis for global results of the business.
- Responsible for ensuring all balance sheet accounts are properly, timely and effectively reconciled and reported upon;
- To keep abreast of developments in the accounting and financial reporting arena and prepare and present updates to senior management on changes as they impact Compensation Accounting;
- Managing and directing the companies' external relationships with auditors along with internal relationships e.g. Internal Audit, Regulatory Accounting in relation to all compensation accounting related matters;
- Ensuring full compliance with all Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and its subsequent sign off in relation to compensation accounting related matters;
- Take the lead with regards to significant group restructures, mergers, acquisitions with regards to the Compensation related matters.
Candidate requirements:
- Qualified accountant ACA.
- At least 5 years experience in financial services industry or in Big 4 audit form with financial services experience.
- Compensation accounting / management experience within the financial service industry would be preferred but other sectors may be considered.
- Very strong technical accountant background with in-depth knowledge of UK GAAP (US GAAP/IFRS also beneficial) as well as strong analytical and good presentational skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take on responsibility and accountability for accounting, governance and compliance related matters whilst also being able to sponsor and lead on project/enhancement delivery
- In depth knowledge of reward and benefits packages, their construction, administration and taxation
