Compensation & Benefits Senior Manager Job in New York 10017, New York US

A STS Compensation Benefits Senior Manager is responsible for executing tasks relating to, but not limited to, the following:  Taxation of equity compensation, deferred compensation/409A, IRC section 162(m), 280G/Golden Parachute analyses, ASC 718 (f.k.a. FAS123R), ASC 740 (f.k.a. FAS109), payroll taxes, employee stock option plans, qualified plans and assistance with compensation related matters for individual and corporate income tax returns.

-  Utilizes prior experience executing client deliverables related to the Job Summary subject matter in the form of calculations and memos to clients

-  Applies industry standards, along with firm policies and BDO Tax Quality Manual requirements, as they relate to:  the Taxation of equity compensation, deferred compensation/409A, IRC section 162(m), 280G/Golden Parachute analyses, ASC 718 (f.k.a. FAS123R), ASC 740 (f.k.a. FAS109), payroll taxes, employee stock option plans, qualified plans and assistance with compensation related matters for individual and corporate income tax returns

-  Researches and prepares compensation planning and/or benchmarking for executive compensation models

-  Identifies situations when additional research is necessary and utilizes the appropriate source

-  Communicates with clients, both verbally and formal business writing/tax opinions

-  Exhibits client/executive presence and possesses strong communication skills

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

-  Supervises workload of STS Compensation Benefits Managers and below on assigned engagements and reviews work product, as appropriate

-  Ensures STS Compensation Benefits Managers and below are trained on all relevant tax software, including proprietary applications in Microsoft Excel and Access databases

-  Delivers periodic performance feedback and completes performance evaluations for STS Compensation Benefits Managers and below

-  Acts as mentor to STS Compensation Benefits Managers and below, as appropriate

-  Works directly with general tax and audit engagement teams to provide compensation benefits assistance to firm clients

 

Other duties as required

Education:

-  Bachelors degree in Accounting or other relevant field required

-  Masters degree in Accounting beneficial

-  Masters degree in Taxation preferred

 

Experience:

-   Ten (10) or more years of prior experience in compensation benefits required

 

License/Certifications:

-  CPA certification or JD preferred

 

Software:

-  Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Access, Excel and Word

-  Exposure to industry standard tax applications and research tools such as RIA, CCH, BNA and Lexis-Nexis

 

Language:

-  High proficiency in English, both verbal and written (including technical writing skills)

-  Excellent oral and written communication skills, specifically tax technical writing skills

-  Solid organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details

-  Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously

-  Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with client personnel

-  Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels

-  Capacity to effectively complete interpretations of legal documents

-  Advanced skills in Excel including macros, pivot tables, database and time value functions

-  Intermediate to advanced skills in Access
