Compensation Consultant Job in Phoenix, Arizona US

The first full level of specialization within a specific field of work
- Requires the application of mature professional knowledge in planning and conducting assignments, having scope for independent accomplishment and coordination of difficult and responsible tasks
- May provide direction and guidance in assigning and reviewing work of junior/less experienced technical, professional and support staff
- As necessary, recommends changes to existing guidelines and work methods, applies existing criteria in new ways and draws conclusions from comparative situations
- Makes recommendations governed by general policy
- Recommendations are reviewed for soundness of judgment
- Exercises initiative in adapting and applying procedures to address unusual situations and to resolve issues and makes recommendations based on findings
- Work is assigned in terms of objectives, relative priorities and critical work areas that impact on the work of other units
- Work is carried out within broad guidelines, informed guidance is available
- Typically a minimum of five years experience is required
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the creation of new positions and the revision of existing roles.
- Develop, review and maintain job profiles for the organization
- Maintain Job Classification structure and update as required
- Assist in developing, administering, and evaluating compensation programs, exhibiting knowledge of compensation principles and practices
- Participate in analysis, development and discussions regarding proposed salary structures and compensation programs
- Develop compensation analysis documents to evaluate pay competiveness as requested from business units
- Assist in the coordination of compensation projects including the development of timelines, deliverables, communications, presentations, and implementation
- Assist in the annual salary and bonus review process. Provide support to leaders on the use of automated system and general questions regarding established practices surrounding the review processes.
- Participate in activities surrounding the participation and completion of salary surveys across North America, United Kingdom, India United Arab Emirates
- Assist in the development and delivery of training to the Human Resources staff, business unit leaders, and staff on classification and compensation theory, concepts and principles
- Interpret compensation data, identify trends, and convey findings to all levels of personnel in a meaningful and easily understood manner.
May also perform, but not limited to, one or more of the following duties:
- Conduct research on compensation and reward systems in order to identify “best practices”, analyze their applicability in relation to Stantec's culture, values and objectives and make recommendations based on findings
- Assist in the implementation of new and/or updated compensation programs
- Assist in the development and implementation of compensation specific policies, procedures and processes
Qualifications:
- Must have a strong attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
- Strong analytical ability to interpret data, identify trends, and convey findings
- Strong verbal written communication skills
- Basic knowledge of compensation principles, practices and regulatory requirements
- Strong interpersonal, multi-tasking, written and oral communication skills
- Experience with Oracle or other HRIS system
Education:
- Minimum five years of experience in Human Resources, including demonstrated exposure and working knowledge of the compensation discipline
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Management (PHR and/or CCP designation an asset)
- Proficient in the use of MS Word and Excel
Working conditions:
- Travel within North America may be required
