TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tasks:
The Compensation Controller will be responsible for the accounting and associated ledger postings relating to the reporting of all salary, bonus, and other types of remuneration, as well as involvement in planning and forecasting the compensation paid to Newedge employees. They will work closely with stakeholders in Human Resources, Finance and Business Lines working directly for the UK Compensation Controller and standing in for this position when needed.

Responsibilities:
• Understand all FO Bonus Plans / arrangements and maintain centralised record / ongoing accurate, inventory, this includes the reconciliation of agreed bonus plans to HR payments and managing and monitoring of any unpaid reserves
• Prepare the different FO Bonus payout schedules
• Processing and provisioning/accruing for FO Bonus plans ensuring they are accurately managed and are in adherence to the contractual arrangements.
• Processing and provisioning/accruing for all other discretionary bonuses ensuring they are accurately managed and are in adherence to the validated instructions received from Human Resources
• Processing and provisioning/accruing for all other deferrals relating to FO or Support function bonuses ensuring they are accurately managed and are in adherence to the validated instructions received from Human Resources
• Establish and Implement the necessary controls and processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness of inputting/Interfacing of journals, in particular the payroll related files
• Assist HR in reconciling the payroll GL file to HR payroll records and reconciliation vs. amount paid to the payroll provider
• Review, reconcile and substantiate general ledger account balances relating to all remuneration on a monthly basis
• Work closely with other Finance areas to be able to substantiate and explain the balances and PL, including monthly movements
• Work closely with finance and HR to ensure costs centre static data appropriately reflects and captures the deployment of resources within the organisation
• Work closely with group MIB in providing remuneration reporting and analysis
• Work closely with group financial accounting to ensure that group policies and definitions are adhered to for accounting purposes and that accurate mapping exists between the payroll and the GL.

Skills:
• Strong analytical skills
• Must be detailed oriented, adopting a ‘control’ mindset
• Motivated to work independently in a fast paced environment
• Good team player who actively contributes
• Strong MS office experience (especially Excel)
• Good communication skills and be able to work in an ever changing and complex environment.

Experience:

• Professional Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equiv.), or near qualified.
• Finance background ideally from the Brokerage Industry
• Exposure to compensation/remuneration accounting and control
