My client has a very exciting opportunity for an experienced Complaints Officer to work in a fast paced and fulfilling environment. This East London local authority is renowned for providing excellent quality of work and customer service to all local residents.
Job Role
• Handle complaints effectively, efficiently and in accordance with the Council’s statutory obligations such as under the Health and Social Care (Community Health and Standards) Act 2003 (adult social care complaints) and the Children Act 1989 (children’s social care complaints).
• Handles requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Data Protection Act 1998, the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and cognate legislation (“the Information Acts”), ensuring consistency across the Council and that the council complies with its statutory obligations.
• Implement policies, procedures, systems and programmes for complaints and information governance, including records management, information security, freedom of information and data protection.
• Mitigate risk and ensure positive and fair outcomes in relation to complaints and information governance.
Duties
• Deliver on the main purposes of the job specified above.
• Undertake complex investigations, prepare detailed reports and draft correspondence for the senior managers and Corporate Directors.
• Work effectively with directorate lead officers in relation to the corporate complaints and information governance systems.
• Prepare detailed reports, including management reports, and draft correspondence for senior managers and corporate directors.
• Monitor performance in complaints and information governance matters.
Essential criteria
• Knowledge of the Freedom of Information legislation
• Knowledge of regulatory and corporate complaints systems (including Corporate Complaints and Adults and Children’s Social Care Complaints), the International Standard for quality and related issues and legislation
• Knowledge of the range of services that local authorities provide
