Chevron's Midcontinent Alaska Business Unit (MCA) is accepting online applications for Completions Engineer positions that will be responsible for planning onshore developments, workovers and well intervention program for wells in North America.

MCA manages Chevron's onshore oil and gas production assets in the central Lower 48 states in the contiguous U.S., extending from Wyoming to south Texas, as well as its onshore and offshore assets in the Cook Inlet and North Slope regions of Alaska. MCA is headquartered in Houston, Texas, with major offices in Midland, Texas, and Anchorage, Alaska, and produces roughly 250,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOED). The business unit operates crude oil and natural gas-producing assets in eight states, and is also involved in numerous non-operated joint ventures throughout the U.S., which account for roughly 30 percent of total business unit production.

Completion engineers work as part of a functional group that supports asset teams. The position is responsible for performing technical completion engineering including completion design, cost estimates, project planning, operations support and review of rig and equipment requirements. The Completion Engineer develops completion programs and procedures, including endorsements and approvals. Selected candidates will participate in field reviews, peer reviews, optimization studies, and gather local operational knowledge/experience. The Engineer will apply Capital Stewardship principles, Decision Analysis, Risk Assessment and Completion Engineering practices. Completion engineers are expected to be active members of Chevron's Global DC Networks Communities of Practice to capture and share lessons learned and best practices with the work group and global DC community.

Open positions are located in Houston, Texas, Midland, Texas and Grand Junction, Colorado.

Position Details:
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years completion design and operations experience, preferably land operations.
  • Knowledge of well design and completion operations, with capability to ensure safe, consistent and high performance operation is desired. Previous experience with frac stimulation is beneficial.
  • Must be able to effectively represent DC in multifunctional teams.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Proven experience in the practice of DC project management and performance processes (focus on performance improvement, risk management, category management).
  • Ability to direct and coordinate the work activities of suppliers, third party resources and other completion engineers.
  • Candidate must be willing and able to travel to field operation sites as needed.
  • Candidate must be capable of effectively mentoring lesser experienced personnel.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with shale/tight gas is a plus.
