Chevron Energy Technology Company (ETC) is accepting online applications for the position of Completion Engineer to play an integral role on the Completion Design Project Support team in Houston, Texas or Aberdeen, United Kingdom.

Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of Completion Design Development and Support for Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and Major Capital Projects. Completion Engineers within ETC will work on project teams within Operating Companies (OpCo's) and Asset teams. They may be required to travel to OpCo locations to perform studies with project teams in support of field development. Travel on occasion may be for extended periods of up to a month or more, average travel time for team members is 15-20% but could be as high 30-35% for some depending on the type of project.

This position is responsible for developing completion designs and maintaining completion engineering core competencies for Chevron. As a result of increasing well complexity and reliability requirements, completion costs have equaled and in many cases exceeded drilling costs in many of Chevron's major capital projects ($20-350MM per well). The staff on this team generally has a very broad experience background and assists Major Capital projects in the planning and execution of their completion work plans.

Position Details:
Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Model alternative completion scenarios for phase 2 project support.
  • Tubing design and performance modeling.
  • Multilateral wells; candidate selection, design, and installation.
  • Well test; equipment selection, cleanup/flowback support.
  • Mono-bore well construction.
  • Design and installation support.
  • New well contingency planning and workovers.
  • Project support and team secondees.
  • Strong business acumen and customer focus.
  • Actively shares best practices and lessons learned.
  • Provide assistance for customer-specific projects as requested such as onsite engineering services, training development and delivery, laboratory evaluations, and engineering studies.
  • Provide quick response" capability for short-term answers to production engineering questions.
  • Provide consultation, training, mentoring, and support.
  • Mentoring Opco engineers new hires.
  • Self assessment and acquisition of training needs.
  • Participates in Health, Environment and Safety (HES) efforts and accountable for achieving team HES goals.
  • PMP generation and accountability, and participates in peer reviews.
  • Actively involved in career development plan.

  • Assist in the development, maintenance and renewal of skills and capabilities within the team.
  • Ensures operational compliance with all US laws and corporate policies and procedures by company and contractor personnel as they relate to the team's activities.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) required in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • likely 9+ years Completion Engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others to achieve Company / SBU goals.
  • Strong, established network with other completion engineers, both internal and external to Chevron and service provider personnel.
  • Innovative with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Well site drilling, completion and/or remedial operations.
  • Must be able to design and plan early stages of well completions, including, tubular design, materials selection, and integration of equipment.
  • Working to advanced knowledge of horizontal/multi-lateral well bore design, smart well completions, completion equipment selection, reliability, and well test equipment selection.
  • Demonstrated experience in material and tubular design.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 35% of time to domestic and international locations.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Major capital projects experience.
  • Deepwater/ High Temperature High Pressure well completion experience.
  • Wellhead/subsea tree interface experience.
  • Production engineering experience.

    This is a Safety Sensitive position.
