Compliance Manager – Global Markets recruitment

The compliance function is critical to HSBC’s ongoing compliance with industry regulations and therefore it’s reputation in the Australian financial services industry.
A rare opportunity has become available for an experienced Compliance Manager to support our Global Markets business. This position will have a particular focus on the Global Markets and Global Investments departments of HSBC Australia.

This opportunity has the flexibility to be a full time (5 days per week) position, or a part time (3 days per week) position.

The role of Compliance Manager, Global Markets will be to oversee, plan and execute compliance plans, advise and formulate compliance policies and best practices and implement processes and procedures (including compliance review and monitoring programmes) to ensure all compliance aspects of the Global Markets businesses are effectively managed.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Pro-actively support and provide compliance advice to the Global Markets, Global Investments and Research units.
- Working closely with the Local Compliance Representatives and business managers to identify and manage compliance risks in the Global Markets businesses
- Administering, implementing and reviewing Compliance Framework on a risk weighted basis
- Advising management as to steps to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations;
- Ensuring compliance risk and relevant operational risk are well managed;
- Ensuring that all material compliance issues are immediately reported to the Head of Compliance and regional compliance function;
- Promote awareness of compliance and regulatory requirements with the relevant business units
- Developing and maintaining a strong compliance culture within allocated business units through comprehensive training, rigorous enforcement and effective information dissemination on compliance matters; and
- Fostering good relations with the regulators.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Accounting, Audit or Law)- In-depth compliance experience in the Banking sector, particular focus on previous Global Markets experience
- Strong knowledge of Australian financial services laws and regulation.
- Strong analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Ability to engage across all levels of the bank.
