Opportunity

The Compliance Monitoring Analyst intern role is a 1 year placement, offering a candidate a fantastic opportunity to develop a career in Compliance.

The MG Asset Management Compliance team It is made up of three sub teams:

Fixed Income and Equities Advisory - The two advisory teams provide support to the business and work as relationship managers between the business and MG Compliance in general. They are responsible for providing regulatory advice to the business units on both business as usual as well as new activities, projects, products and changing regulations.

SARA - Surveillance and Risk Assessment, which carries out day to day monitoring and periodic thematic reviews, to provide the business with assurance that it remains compliant with the regulations on an ongoing basis.

The role available sits within the Surveillance (day to day) Monitoring team which is mainly responsible for the coding, maintenance and daily review of pre and post trade incidents generated by Sentinel Latent Zero (automated Compliance monitoring system) for client, regulatory and house restrictions on around 200 individual Equity, Fixed Income and multi asset client funds.

Key responsibilities

The individual will work as part of a team responsible for the:

* Review of segregated client mandates and retail product documentation to implement and maintain coding on Sentinel for automated client, regulatory and house restriction monitoring, and to identify any manual monitoring requirements.

* Investigation of daily incidents generated by Sentinel to ascertain the reason for any breaches / exceptions (trade, data issues etc), communication with the relevant business areas for resolution and breach logging.
* Completion of a number of routine daily/weekly monitoring activities.
* Delivery of coding interpretation covering regulatory / guideline restrictions to the business when required, interacting with fund managers and front office staff at all levels.
* Periodic reporting to the business of breaches identified.
* Liaise with the Trustee / client relationship managers to respond to breach alerts and portfolio queries as received.
* Review of trades against FCA COBS requirements covering fair allocation, best execution and timely execution.
* Creating and maintaining accurate team procedure manuals.
* Assisting in the production of MI to the business.
* Ad-hoc work as directed by the Surveillance Monitoring Manager.
