Job Requirements
- At least a Bachelor’s Degree. A legal qualification or other professional qualification (or commensurate practical experience) will be an advantage
- Prior and relevant experience in trading regulation and compliance
- Awareness of the energy markets in which Shell Trading operates and the instruments it trades
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Working to tight deadlines in a fast moving business environment
- Resilience and strength of character and the capacity to challenge whilst remaining commercially focused
- Awareness of current regulatory proposals will be an advantage
- Awareness of commodity trading in the various Exchanges will be an advantage
Job Responsibilities
This engagement requires significant internal stakeholder engagement and coordination with Legal, Finance, Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Communications, International Directorate, amongst others.
The individual filling this position will be expected to work with the Global Market Surveillance Teams who are responsible for providing proactive, timely and cost-effective Market Surveillance Services to the Global Trading businesses and functions.
In addition, the incumbent will be required to take on the additional responsibilities:
- Develop an understanding of regulatory and compliance developments affecting Shell Trading in Singapore and the East and the wider global regulatory picture
- Develop effective relationships within Shell Trading and with external agencies and industry
- Contribute as required in ensuring that the business in East is appraised of regulatory developments and how these impact Shell Trading
- Assist as required in the development of internal WONA compliance policy
- Assist as required in monitoring and surveillance tasks
- Contribute to the development of compliance systems and controls adopted by Shell Trading
- Contribute to the formulation, implementation, review and updating of compliance policies, documents and manuals
- Implement local monitoring and surveillance programmes and daily monitoring tasks working under guidance from the WONA MS lead
- Develop an understanding of Trading business business strategy and the compliance risks faced
- Develop an awareness of knowledge the regulatory environment effecting Trading and how this is changing
- Assist in implementing a robust compliance programme and risk based controls to meet regulatory requirements and Group standards and embedding Compliance led change in the organization.
- Assist in embedding core compliance documentation including the Compliance Manual and departmental procedures
- Contribute as necessary into compliance dashboard and MI reports
- Contribute as necessary into departmental risk assessments and planning exercises
