Compliance Officer

Responsibilities include:

 Conduct and document monitoring reviews§ to assess compliance with and adherence to regulations and internal e-communication policies. Follow established global policies, procedures and minimum standards requirements for monitoring and sample testing activities.

 Be able to undertake configured and customised electronic§ communication monitoring using Bloomberg (e.g. SSRT, MCMP) and Compliance Now functionality.

 Undertake gifts and entertainment monito§ring to review ongoing activities with a focus on higher risk items including where the expenditure involved:

 Compliance pre-approval conditions;§

 High§ monetary value items;

 Public officials;§

 Conduct periodic monitoring of§ cross border risks;

 Perform electronic transaction surveillance of the§ FICC, Equities ETD businesses, Control Room and Personal Account Dealing using established alerts programmes within Actimize and SMARTS;

§ Investigating and closing out the daily alerts thoroughly in a timely manner, and ensuring significant issues identified are fully investigated and promptly escalated where necessary;

 Undertake desk based monitoring on behalf of key§ stakeholders of the Central Compliance function (e.g Investment Bank – Equities, FICC and IBD as well as Wealth Management and Asset Management)

 Attending§ and contributing to product team meetings, and preparing monthly updates for head of product teams;

 Enhancing existing routines and continuously§ developing monitoring programme, working closely with Legal Compliance IT and Business IT;

 Keep pace with business developments including the system§ changes and the increasing use of algorithmic strategy trading;

§ Contributing to strategic department projects including assisting in global initiatives run out of Central Compliance;

 Involvement in the Global§ Monitoring Programme (GMP) and oversight of the Global Surveillance System (GSS);

 Tracking regulatory changes that may have implications on the teams§ work, including themes arising from publications for example the FSA Market Watch notices.

More broadly, the role offers the opportunity to become involved in the activities of the wider Monitoring Surveillance team within Central Compliance, a team that is also responsible for:

? Risk mitigation through plugging gaps and running and implementing compliance oversight projects to close identified issues across the business teams;

? Running strategic regional initiatives as agreed on behalf of the EMEA Head of Compliance and involvement in global initiatives including the Market Conduct initiative;

? Collating annual compliance risk assessment plans;

? Ensuring effective reporting on Key Performance Indicators to the business to ensure risk is managed transparently;

? Managing the relationship between EMEA compliance and LC IT;
