The role will also have a significant monitoring and surveillance component, including system configuration, development and testing within the system development lifecycle. To meet the challenges and demands of this role it is likely that the job holder will have acquired significant relevant wholesale financial services and energy market experience and strong IT skills to meet the demands and challenges of a varied role. p

The role will have significant interaction with the firm's trading and origination business as well as the firm's support and control functions. p

The job holder's primary role will support the Midstream business of Centrica Energy in respect of its financially regulated and unregulated businesses to develop the Compliance Monitoring and Transaction Surveillance capabilities of the Compliance department. p

p

The job holder will provide support and assistance in promoting and continuing to develop a culture of compliance within the business, designing compliance policies and procedures and providing compliance advice to the business. p

p

The job holder will also build and maintain awareness within the group of regulatory requirements as Centrica Energy Trading Limited (CETL) is regulated by the FSA, and by the FCA post April 2013, as an Energy Market Participant. p

The role will report to the senior compliance officer, Energy Compliance. p

The job holder will primarily be required to help run the Compliance Monitoring and Transaction Surveillance Programme (CMTSP), and have the skills and experience to develop and implement transaction surveillance and monitoring having regard to applicable market conduct and financial crime scenarios. p

The job holder is expected to be able to use their experience of energy markets and IT skills to analyse the outputs of the CMTSP to determine if the trading activities of the firm are in accordance with its own and its regulators' expectations. p

The job holder will be capable of communicating analytical outputs to the business in a clear and understandable manner. p

p

p

Additionally, the job holder will be required to assist in managing a portfolio of compliance activities including: promotion of compliance culture, giving advisory opinions, supporting financial crime/market conduct programs, conflicts management, providing compliance training, applying knowledge of energy and financial commodity products, approving new business initiatives, policy development, assessing applicable forthcoming UK and EU financial legislation in conjunction with Regulatory Affairs and Legal, and general compliance administration. p

The job holder will be expected to improve the levels of compliance service across the business and provide a degree of resilience to maintaining service levels when other members of the compliance function may be unavailable. p

The job holder will need to be effective at the micro and macro level and perform an ambassadorial for the compliance department when dealing with junior employees or senior management of the firm. p

p

The job holder will be required to complete a proportionate share of the function's administration and manage a varied workload to a level of detail. The job holder will demonstrate vision and the ability to contribute meaningfully to the definition of the compliance strategy and compliance department infrastructure. p

p

There will be a broad exposure to a number of products and asset classes and the opportunity to work as part of project management teams to help implement new processes, products and systems.
