Compliance Officer – Equities recruitment
Legal Compliance is a global team of dedicated professionals who are committed to providing timely, value added and innovative risk control and advisory services to support the business operations of UBS and to preserve and enhance the reputation of UBS as a leading financial services provider.
As an Equity Compliance Officer for Singapore, you will report to the APAC Head of Compliance Singapore and primarily based in Singapore with other Compliance staff.
You will provide compliance advice to the Equities business in Asia which includes the following business areas: Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETD), Prime Brokerage, HVDMA/algorithmic business and Exotic Commodity Structured Business.
Additional Compliance support would be required for the other business areas such as Cash Equities and Retail Structured Products
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
- Providing compliance advice on transactions, new business initiatives and other compliance issues to the related business areas as required. Ensuring that business and product development activities are compliant with applicable laws, regulations and internal standards.
- Establish appropriate monitoring and control processes and exercise appropriate oversight of the activities carried on by the relevant businesses, which includes reviews and desk based monitoring.
- Analyze and propose changes in relevant laws and regulation and ensuring that the requirements are appropriately implemented. This may involve taking a role within industry and regulators working groups with a view to lobbying for appropriate outcomes.
- Supervising the daily equities activities and identify any exceptions to local regulatory requirements and internal policies
- Develop and providing trainings to the business areas on new policies, procedures and regulatory developments as required.
- Issuing relevant and timely guidance to the business in relation to Compliance policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain regulatory communications and relationships in Sing (MAS, IES and SGX) including coordinate inspections/audits/regulatory inquiries.
- Attend regular business meetings as well as local, regional and global ETD compliance meetings.
- Coordination of compliance training for the business areas including new joiner inductions, compliance updates and specific compliance training as required.
- Partner with Hong Kong Compliance team on regional projects.
- Conduct ETD manual monitoring which includes error trades and ETD trade, working through tests
Requirements:
Our ideal candidates should have the following requisites:
- Strong working knowledge on the ETD markets (ie, futures and options)and the cash equities markets
- Excellent understanding of fundamental compliance principles and Singapore regulatory requirements
- Be able to collate and analyse large amounts of information quickly and understand and be able to manage projects within the Compliance department and be aware of issues affecting the Compliance Department generally. Identify problems and seek solutions
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely on regulatory compliance issues to external and senior management within Legal and Compliance and Equities
- Highly proactive - be looking at ways to improve compliance processes and practices and can prioritise effectively
- Be able to work closely with colleagues and be part of a small close-knit team
