Compliance Officer – Retail Lending recruitment

The focus of the role will be to provide accurate and solid commercial advice on all compliance operational matters that affect the retail lending business, particularly FSA OFT regulations and ensuring adherence to lending regulations, specifically MCOB Consumer Credit Act.

Further duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Taking responsibility for the designing, building and monitoring of operational controls regarding CCA and MCOB

• Establishing a compliant operational framework

• Drafting operational governance documents, scorecards and procedures

• Planning and designing appropriate monitoring to ensure adherence to regulatory policy

• Researching operational impact of Retail lending rules

• Assume responsibility for the training of new and existing staff in respect of regulatory changes

• To central point of contact for ongoing technical regulatory advice

• Coordinating and facilitating a central monitoring desk and completing thematic reviews within the business

To be considered for the role the successful applicant will need to possess the following:

• Extensive regulatory compliance experience gained from within the retail banking / retail lending industry

• Detailed knowledge of FSA regulations, MCOB and the CCA and their application within the retail lending banking space (mortgages, loans, regulated loans and credit).

• Proven ability to read and interpret relevant legislative changes

• Experience with drafting and reviewing regulatory policies, procedures and Management Information

• Proven working experience of coordinating the introduction of operational and regulatory changes

• Strong organisational, analytical and project management skills.

• Effective delivery  and implementation experience of operational and regulatory projects within a retail compliance business

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential in communicating with a wide audience, clear, reasoned approach needs to be exhibited.

• Highly motivated with excellent attention to detail

• A good problem solver and solution provider

• Can work independently on delivering regulatory projects

• Ability to apply technical regulatory knowledge to commercial demands

• Good decision making skills

• Ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders

Due to the contract nature of the role the ability to communicate at all levels, with strong self-motivation and organisational skills are needed to take full advantage of the opportunity and all it encompasses. Rate commensurate with experience.
