Department
Overview
Working within the Compliance Reporting department of J.P. Morgan's Worldwide Securities Services.
This rapidly growing department is currently in great demand by both J.P. Morgan and its external clients to provide accurate automated reporting on the validity of legal, regulatory and internal investment guidelines for investment portfolios across the globe.
We use an automated system to create reports for our clients on any investments, which may not be advisable to hold.
For example, an ethical fund may be checked via our proprietary compliance system for holdings in companies involved in land mines and cluster bombs.
Please note that this department is not affiliated with "Legal and Compliance". The role is associated with Compliance Reporting Services, specifically with respect to post-trade compliance reporting.
Role Description
This role requires two distinct job functions and skill sets:
Client Focused
Provided with a set of clients, the Compliance Reporting Specialist would be responsible for:
Creating and sustaining strong relationships
Maintaining existing fund "rules" within the system and tailoring available solutions to the changing needs of the client
in a timely manner
Attending occasional face-to-face clients meetings within the Americas
Scope client requirements against that of the firm's compliance monitoring system and perform maintenance to the
clients' accounts
Discussing industry practice, product development, and evolving regulations with the client
Technically Focused
Concentrate on problem-solving technical and involved requests for clients across the globe, as part of discrete
implementations of new business
Providing technical input in clients meetings as necessary
Logical, problem-solving, technical person would be ideally suited
Candidates need to either have, or swiftly acquire, knowledge of myriad financial instruments, including equities, fixed income, and derivatives.
Training opportunities are available and a willingness to learn is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
Regularly communicate with clients (in person, over the phone and electronically), negotiating solutions which match
client requirements with technical feasibility
Create, maintain, and test logical rules automatically applied to the financial instruments held by J.P. Morgan's
clients
Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for acting as a team player and reviewing the work of his/her peers
Qualifications
BA Degree; in business, economics, or related area is advantageous but not essential
Experience involving financial instruments
Prior compliance and/or client service and client management experienced preferred
Additional certifications (i.e., CFA) are a plus
Experience
A successful candidate would have at least 2, ideally 3 of the following key attributes, demonstrated by suitable experience:
Strong client-facing ability
Superb technical aptitude, ideally with logic-based systems
Excellent financial instrument knowledge
Current/previous management of staff
All candidates must possess:
At minimum, 5 years professional experience, preferably with the financial industry
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Strong PC literacy, especially strong working and technical knowledge in Microsoft Excel
