Compliance Review Panel Member

JOB PURPOSE

Applications or nominations of candidates from Asian Development Bank (ADB) non-regional member countries are invited to fill a part-time position on the ADB’s Compliance Review Panel (CRP). The Asian Development Bank’s vision is a region free of poverty. Established in 1966 and headquartered in Manila, Philippines, ADB’s multicultural staff come from over 50 member countries.

The CRP is an independent mechanism reporting to ADB’s Board of Directors. The CRP investigates complaints from people affected by an ADB-assisted projects and determines whether any harm was caused due to non-compliance by ADB of its policies.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT

This position is for a period of 5 years, on a part-time basis. Accordingly, the successful applicant will be required to work only when the workload of the CRP requires. Remuneration of this part-time employment will be on a per diem basis. The position will be filled under the revised Accountability Mechanism that came into effect on 24 May 2012.

ADB Directors, Alternate Directors, Directors’ Advisors, Management, staff, and consultants are not eligible to serve on the CRP until at least three years have elapsed from the time of their termination from ADB service. After serving on the CRP, former panel members cannot be considered for employment at ADB.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The CRP is composed of three panel members, two part-time and one full time. Two panel members are from regional countries (with at least one from a developing member country), while the third panel member is from a non-regional country. This position is for the panel member from a non-regional member.

Along with other members of the CRP, responsibilities include:

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Master's degree, or equivalent, in Economics, Environment, Law, or Social Sciences, or related fields; or University degree in Economics, Environment, Law, or Social Sciences, or related fields, combined with specialized experience in similar organization/s, may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree.

The position reports to the Board of Directors through the Chair, CRP. The Board Compliance Review Committee (BCRC) provides written feedback to the performance of CRP members
