Assignment Brief:

You will support the team by:

• Undertaking monitoring reviews and testing activities to a high standard as directed by the Head of Assurance and Monitoring and the Assurance and Monitoring Team Manager.

• Using professional expertise to support the Assurance and Monitoring team, thereby protecting the business’s income, growth plans and vision of achieving World Class Risk Management

• Monitoring the ability of the Businesses within Bank to manage and mitigate risk through an independent programme of thematic reviews and quality assurance checking.

 

Risk Management Control:

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of the current risk and control environment, through desktop reviews, interviews and process walkthroughs.

• Use a co-ordinated, consistent and effective approach to risk monitoring and quality assurance testing through the effective use of the appropriate monitoring tools to identify areas of risk.

• Undertake planned and ad hoc assurance reviews of activities within the division, including periodic reviews of products services, policies procedures, activities of business units Conduct Risk teams, to ensure compliance with Group standards.

 

Collaborate with the business to determine remedial and preventative actions to keep the risk within risk appetite.

• Assist in the ongoing development of the assurance framework in the Bank through:

                - Understanding and documenting current state assurance and monitoring programmes.

- Providing input to the Group-wide assurance risk assessment exercises.

- Developing open and supportive working relationships with all other areas within and external to Compliance.

 

Experience:

Previous monitoring experience gained from either internal or external audit and / or monitoring undertaken in a Compliance function.

Ideally an understanding of retail and corporate banking products/services and associated UK regulatory regimes.

Good understanding of risk and control frameworks

Ability to understand risks, issues and impacts and manage these.

Knowledge of the political and regulatory environment pertaining to large, complex financial services organisations

Strong analytical and writing skills.

Effective presentations to, and influencing of, senior executive committees and working groups.

Provides commitment to geographic and travelling flexibility.

 

Qualifications:

Degree educated.

Must have a proven depth of knowledge and relevant professional qualifications (CPA or ACA qualified or equivalent)

 

Technical Capabilities:

Good understanding of conduct risk management disciplines in Financial Services.
