Global Compliance is organized broadly into divisional compliance groups and centralized compliance groups, each with firmwide responsibilities.

Divisional compliance groups are embedded in the business they support. These groups include Global Investment Banking Division/Merchant Banking Division Compliance, Global Securities Division Compliance, Global Investment Management Division Compliance (which consists of Goldman Sachs Asset Management Compliance and Private Wealth Management Compliance), Global Investment Research Compliance and Global Operations, Technology, Finance and Services Compliance.

Centralized functions with Global Compliance include the following:
• Compliance Surveillance Strategy is comprised of the Anti-Money Laundering/Suspicious Activities Group, E-Communications Compliance and Global Surveillance.
• Global Compliance Employee Services manages registrations, outside interests and private investments.
• Global Compliance Testing, Regulatory Audits and Inquiries, Global Compliance Training and Communications and Global Control Room Chaperones. These groups manage regulatory affairs, services and resources related to all businesses and employees of the firm globally. They advise, test, survey and manage firmwide activities, employee activities, transactions and risks.

Job Summary Responsibilities
AML Compliance is seeking a senior Associate or Vice President with prior Know Your Customer (KYC), Client Identification Program (CIP) and banking/brokerage experience. The role would entail handling daily escalations and providing advice on policies/procedures with respect to KYC/CIP/Client Onboarding. The associate also would be expected to perform due diligence and conduct high-level investigations of potentially suspicious activity. The ideal candidate would have strong analytical and risk assessment skills, ability to make sound decisions and collaborate with others, as well as a background and understanding of the securities industry.
 

Principal Responsibilities
• Act as an escalation point for KYC/CIP/Client Onboarding matters where AML Compliance advice or exception is required across Asia Pacific
• Review KYC/CIP escalations and provide advice to ensure compliance with local and internal AML policies
• Provide guidance to business and operations on appropriate application of AML policies/procedures and work with them to find solutions
• Assess regulatory and reputational risks, and mitigate those risks when making decisions
• Identify red flags and control issues with respect to KYC/CIP/Client Onboarding
• Keep up-to-date with AML/KYC regulations and requirements
 

Basic Qualifications
• Existing compliance experience covering AML/Client Onboarding experience gained from the investment banking/brokerage arena with knowledge of financial markets and products is mandatory for this position
• Strong analytical and risk assessment skills
• Ability to prioritize competing projects/demands, work under pressure and ensure deadlines are met
• Ability to forge strong relationships with colleagues and build relationships with a range of stakeholders to get things done
• Ability to take ownership, work independently and yet still be team-oriented
• Ability to adapt to new changes and new challenges
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proactive, self motivated, detailed oriented and well-organized
