Position Description

Morgan Stanley Australia is currently hiring a seasoned professional to join their Private Wealth Management (PWM) compliance team as Vice President.

The main focus of this key role is to assist the Country Head of Compliance for Australia with day-to-day compliance responsibilities in PWM businesses to manage regulatory risk and preserve the Firm's franchise through assisting the local and off-shore regulated retail businesses to comply with, and monitor for compliance with, applicable laws, regulations, rules, internal policies and procedures, standards and industry best practices.

Key accountabilities:

- Provide timely advice and guidance in relation to compliance-related enquiries from PWM businesses such as new product approvals
- Supervise the daily, weekly and monthly surveillance of the PWM business
- Conduct compliance induction training for new staff such as sales or investment associates
- Assist in the maintenance of statutory registers
- Compile findings and management reports as and when required by Compliance and PWM management
- Draft, update and maintain PWM compliance policies, procedures, manuals and rule databases
- Investigate, compile and draft responses to customer complaints, regulatory enquiries, inspections, self assessments and regulatory notifications
- Attend and prepare documents for regular internal meetings and committees to keep members informed of any regulatory developments or risks

Skills Required

- Existing compliance knowledge and 8+ years experience from a Retail Investment Firm or with a regulator
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Economics, Commerce, Business or Post-graduate qualifications in Investment Applied Finance with the Securities Institute, or other relevant industry qualifications
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills
- A practical and up-to-date understanding of the relevant rules and regulations
- RG 146 and ADA Level 1 and 2
