Computational Biologist – San Diego, 6
A leading Pharmaceutical client requires a Computational Biologist for a long term project based in San Diego, California. It will be an initial 6-12 month contract with the potential of the position transferring to permanent position.
Summary:
- Analyze genome-wide datasets (e.g., gene expression profiles) with emphasis on meta-analysis
- Infer biological significance from dataset analysis
Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Ph.D. in computational biology or life sciences, i.e., a biologist with computational/statistical training
- Experience with pathway analysis methodology and software
- Proficiency in the handling and analysis of complex datasets (familiarity with OmicSoft a plus)
- Knowledge of statistical principles and their biological applications
- Excellent communication skills
Skills/Knowledge Desired/Preferred
- Working skills in genomics technologies
- Expertise with R/Bioconductor, Matlab or other bioinformatics/statistical software
- Experience in oncology, drug development, and/or preclinical research
- Formal training in statistics or biostatistics
