Computational Life and Medical Sciences Network Administrator

 

The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £31,905 - £38,594 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

 

An opportunity exists for a self-motivated, professional administrator with excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills to: (i) work with Professor Coveney in support of a UCL-wide initiative in computational life and medical sciences, the CLMS Network http://www.clms.ucl.ac.uk ; (ii) co-ordinate CLMS activities while supporting the efforts of the Scientific Research and Strategic Coordinator to up-scale the level of CLMS activity with various organisations and at multiple levels, locally within UCL, nationally, and internationally.

 

The postholder, where and when needed, will be required to work with the Administrator of the Centre for Computational Science (CCS) http://ccs.chem.ucl.ac.uk to ensure its smooth running, including undertaking any other tasks commensurate with the post. This will be an exciting and demanding multi-faceted role and may suit for example an experienced executive assistant in a large complex organisation or a science graduate wishing to develop a career in management / academic administration.

 

The position is available to start on or after  12 December 2011, and is funded for a period of 24 months initially.

 

The postholder must be qualified to at least graduate level; possess relevant work experience, from within the Higher Education environment or even from a previous role which involves engagements with industry/healthcare/academe; able to work on their own initiative and with an appropriate measure of independence but equally responsive to directions; an excellent communicator, skilled in liaison at all levels; have excellent skills in office IT systems, including email, and MS Office applications such as Word; a high standard of literacy and the ability to draft high-level correspondence; able to adopt a flexible approach, self motivated and capable of working effectively under pressure and to deadlines.
