POSITION SUMMARY

Under moderate day-to-day supervision, with an intermediate degree of independent judgment and discretion, performs the configuration and maintenance of computing lab resources of the Art Design Education, Intensive English Programs and Writing Tutorial Center student computer labs in a PC and MAC networked environment.


POSITION DUTIES

-Configure and maintain all computing equipment and ensure network functionality in assigned areas.

-Manage the network servers and lab electronics including peripherals, A/V equipment, user accounts and all other classroom equipment.

-Ensure that lab equipment is maintained and repaired when necessary.

-Assist lab users (i.e. troubleshoot, train users, produce a lab guide/booklet or handout, oversee distribution and retrieval of loaner manuals, etc.).

-Provide basic documentation about the operation of the lab equipment and the use of software; summarize lab use and maintain an inventory of lab hardware and software.

-Price and recommend hardware and software purchases.

-Organize lab class schedules to avoid conflicts and maximize resource utilization.

-Assist with budget preparation; generate requisitions for the purchase of equipment and supplies as needed.

-Prepare materials documenting both end-user procedures and technical methods.

-Be willing to accommodate an adjusted work schedule as per the demands of the academic year.

-Perform all other related duties as required.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS


Education:

HS Diploma/GED required; BA preferred.


Experience:

Two (2) years’ experience in a networked MAC and PC computing environment; demonstrated knowledge of systems using Mac’s and PC’s; and ability to install, configure and repair software and hardware required. Applicants must also have demonstrated knowledge of graphics software and practical knowledge of video input.


Skills:

Advanced knowledge of Macintosh and Windows client and server operating systems through Windows 7/2008 family and OSX required.
