Working as a Sr. Programmer/Analyst you will design and code applications and assist with the implementation of the Project and Administrative Management Initiative.

DUTIES
Designs and codes applications according to written specifications and verbal instructions from systems analysts. Supports department programmers and system analysts as well as other technical staff with programming and analysis related activities. Investigates vendor products and provides information to programmers and other project members about features and limitations of programming tools and languages, following industry recommendations and department programming standards to ensure code efficiency and reliability.
Attends team meetings and communicates (verbally and in writing) programming issues to appropriate staff and customers. Presents findings, recommendations, and specifications both verbally and in writing. Tunes and modifies existing code. Investigates system “bugs” and provides input on code fixes and alternative solutions. Tests applications and follows department version control and code promotion guidelines. Performs analysis on program output and error logs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Eight to twelve years progressively responsible experience that includes programming experience with large system implementations. A degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field may be used to offset experience. Experience in the PeopleSoft development environment. Basic understanding of the overall development process and skills in multiple programming and scripting languages. Fundamental understanding of relational database concepts. Demonstrated testing and troubleshooting skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated human relations and communication skills, and ability to work in a team environment. Strong commitment to excellence in service.
PREFERENCES
PeopleTools, PeopleCode, Application Engine, Application Package SQL, SQR, C or C++ experience preferred.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday, 8-5 with occasional overtime and weekends possible.
